What PolicyBridge is

PolicyBridge is a referral service. We connect Canadian residents and businesses with independently licensed insurance advisors, and we publish general information about critical illness insurance, mortgage protection, term life insurance and group benefits. We are not an insurance company, we are not an insurance broker or agent, and we are not a financial, legal or tax advisory firm. We do not underwrite, issue, sell, administer or adjudicate any policy or claim.

The advisors we introduce you to are independent third parties. They are not our employees or agents, and we do not direct or control how they work.

No advice

Nothing on this site is insurance, legal, tax or financial advice. Our content is general information about insurance in Canada and may not apply to your situation. Advice about a specific policy can only come from a licensed advisor who has reviewed your circumstances.

Who may use the site

To use the free quote form you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Canada, or be acting for a business that operates in Canada with authority to provide the information you submit on its behalf. You agree that the information you give us is accurate and current.

Using the site

You may use the site to learn about insurance and to be introduced to an advisor. You agree not to:

  • Submit false, misleading or fraudulent information, or impersonate another person or business.
  • Submit information about a person or business you are not authorised to act for.
  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that breaches these terms.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its systems or any data it holds.
  • Scrape, harvest, crawl or otherwise extract data by automated means.
  • Introduce malware or anything else designed to disrupt or damage the site.
  • Copy, reverse engineer or create derivative works from the site or its content.
  • Interfere with the operation of the site or with anyone else’s use of it.

The free quote form

The free quote form is an informational tool. It does not assess, recommend or price any insurance product, and anything it shows you is general information rather than professional advice. Completing it does not create any obligation on you, on us or on any advisor.

We do not guarantee that an advisor will contact you, take you on as a client, be able to quote for you, or produce any particular outcome. We do not endorse any individual advisor.

The referral, and your relationship with the advisor

When you submit the free quote form, we share the details you provided with a licensed advisor in your province so they may contact you. Our role ends with that introduction.

Any quote, recommendation, policy or service the advisor provides is a matter between you and them, governed by their own agreements, licensing obligations and privacy practices. We are not a party to that relationship, and we are not responsible for the advisor’s conduct, the accuracy of their quotes, the suitability of what they recommend, or the terms of any policy you buy.

We take reasonable steps to work only with advisors who hold a current licence in the province where you live, but we do not independently verify every credential on an ongoing basis. You are responsible for satisfying yourself about an advisor’s licensing and suitability before you engage them. Provincial insurance regulators publish licence registries you can check.

How we are compensated

We do not charge you a fee. We may receive compensation from advisors or their firms for referrals. This does not change the price of any policy you purchase; advisor compensation is paid by the insurer issuing the policy.

No guarantee of coverage or savings

We do not guarantee that you will be offered coverage, that any quote will be lower than what you pay now, or that a particular insurer will be available to you. Illustrations, examples and figures on the site are for general reference only. They are not offers, and they are not predictions of your result.

Intellectual property

The site’s content, design and marks, including the PolicyBridge name and logo, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trade-mark law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to view and use the site for the purpose of evaluating insurance coverage for yourself, your family or your business. All other rights are reserved.

Insurer names on the site are the trade-marks of their respective owners and are used for identification only. Their appearance does not imply any endorsement, sponsorship or partnership unless we say so expressly.

Information you submit

You keep ownership of the information and content you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, reproduce and transmit it for the purpose of operating the site, connecting you with an advisor and meeting our legal obligations. You confirm you have the right to give us everything you submit.

Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. It explains what we collect, how we use it, and that submitting the free quote form shares your details with a licensed advisor.

Regulatory compliance and electronic messages

We do not sell insurance, act as a broker or agent, or give insurance advice, and we operate the site consistently with Canadian insurance regulation on that basis.

We send commercial electronic messages only where you have consented or where Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation otherwise permits it. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link. You consent to receiving communications from us electronically, including messages relating to a quote you have asked for.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and our referral service are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that its content is complete, accurate or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business or lost data, arising from your use of the site or from your dealings with any advisor or insurer, even if we were advised such damages were possible.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the site or our service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which is ordinarily nil, and CAD $100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your use or misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, information you submitted that you were not authorised to provide, your infringement of anyone’s rights, or your dealings with an advisor or insurer.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or withdraw access, in whole or in part, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms, if we suspect fraud or unlawful activity, if it is necessary to protect the site or other users, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law.

Resolving a dispute

If you have a problem, contact us first through our contact page and we will try to resolve it informally. We ask that you give us 30 days to do so before starting any formal proceeding.

To the extent permitted by law, you and we each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding. This paragraph does not apply where the law of your province does not permit it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict of laws rules. You agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer or other laws of your own province.

General

These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the site, and replace any earlier understanding about it. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

We may amend these terms. The current version applies to your use of the site, and the date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

We are not responsible for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages, network failures, natural events and acts of government. If we publish these terms in another language, the English version governs to the extent of any conflict.

Accessibility

We want this site to be usable by everyone. If you have difficulty accessing any part of it, contact us through our contact page and we will provide the information or complete the free quote form with you by another method.
